Scouting Grayslake Central at Woodstock

Grayslake Central (2-2, 2-0) at Woodstock (1-3, 1-1)

When: 7:15 p.m., today

Last week: Grayslake Central lost to Jacobs, 24-7; Woodstock lost to Huntley, 34-16.

Skinny: Grayslake Central looks to maintain its share of first place in the FVC Fox with Prairie Ridge, while snapping a two-game losing streak. The Rams' leading rusher, RB Joey Valdivia (481 yds., 11.2 avg., 5 TDs) missed last week's game at Jacobs with a leg injury and coach Nick Goshe said Valdivia is day-to-day. Vinnie Culhane carried the load in place of Valdivia and has run the ball effectively (381 yds., 7.8 avg., 2 TDs) all season. ... All of Woodstock's losses have been to perennial playoff teams (Prairie Ridge, 54-0; Cary-Grove, 48-6; and Huntley, 34-16). Coach Steve Beard's Blue Streaks, who reached the Class 5A state semifinals last year, are led offensively by RB Drew Walkington (330 yds., 7.8 avg., 3 TDs). "Great coaching staff," Goshe said. "(They) know how to win ... at their place ... an extremely challenging game."
