Scouting St. Viator at Marian Catholic

St. Viator (4-4, 2-4) at Marian Catholic (6-2, 4-1)

When: 7:30 p.m. today

Last week: St. Viator lost to Benet 10-7; Marian d. Nazareth 29-28

Outlook: This wasn't the scenario Viator wanted but it's what it is now embracing as it takes a three-game losing streak to Chicago Heights with its playoff hopes at stake. “It's a good opportunity for us,” said Viator coach Chris Kirkpatrick. “We have to play well and from here on out you have to play well. We're just starting that a week early.” Marian's magic continued last week as it never led until there was no time left on John Rhode's desperation 39-yard heave to Randall Wells and Jabari Danzy's extra point kick. When Nazareth missed an extra point after a tiebreaking TD with 42 seconds left it should have been an omen since Marian also has 1-point wins over Benet and Notre Dame on blocked extra points. Jereul Taylor has rushed for 1,018 yards to lead Marian, which leads the series 12-4 but lost 25-0 last year at Viator and 16-10 two years ago at home.
