Brennan, Carmel roll past St. Patrick

Carmel 49, St. Patrick 15: Quarterback Brian Brennan rushed for 2 touchdowns and a two-point conversion and threw a TD pass to Alex Young for the second week in a row, as the Corsairs’ fourth road game of the season resulted in an East Suburban Catholic Conference win at Hanson Stadium in Chicago.

Carmel improved to 4-2, 4-1, while handing St. Patrick (3-3, 2-3) its fourth straight loss.

The Corsairs learned at halftime that previously undefeated Joliet Catholic had lost to Nazareth. That means Carmel is back in the ESCC race.

“We told the kids that, and that got us jacked up,” said coach Andy Bitto, whose Corsairs led the host Shamrocks 29-8 at halftime. “That was pretty cool.”

Carmel got another kickoff return for touchdown from Mike Panico. It was his third of the season.

“I can’t remember a kid getting three in one year,” Bitto said.

Fullback Jordan Kos rushed for more than 100 yards and scored twice. Tim Serio also had a rushing TD for Carmel.

“I was real pleased,” Bitto said. “And Joliet Catholic losing, that was amazing to us.”
