Naperville Central upends Waubonsie Valley

Taking a 4-3 lead in the nonconference, season-opening season, Naperville Central defeated Waubonsie Valley 23-10 on Saturday in Naperville.

Naperville Central quarterback Jake Kolbe capped a 12-play scoring drive with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Mike Kolzow on the last play of the first half to take a 13-3 lead. Kolbe connected on a 14-yard touchdown pass to Ben Andreas earlier in the second quarter, and added 59 yards rushing.

Waubonsie Valley lost 3 fumbles and committed 12 penalties worth 104 yards. The Warriors were paced by Christian Gibbs’ 7 pass receptions for 71 yards and Jon Fizer’s 56 yards rushing.
