South Elgin, Elgin grads star for UW-Whitewater

South Elgin graduate Jake Kumerow and Elgin graduate Dennis Moore scored the only 2 touchdowns for host Wisconsin-Whitewater, which rallied for 17 points in the fourth quarter to defeat Washington University (Mo) 17-7 before 4,282 fans in the the season opener at Perkins Stadium on Saturday.

Kumerow led Whitewater with 4 catches for 69 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown reception with 6:39 to play that gave the Warhawks a 10-7 lead.

Moore, who gained a team-best 72 yards on 13 carries, sealed the win with a 28-yard scoring burst with three minutes remaining.
