Fields steps down at St. Charles East

St. Charles East football coach Mike Fields has decided to resign from his position due to family considerations, the school announced Tuesday in a news release.

Fields served as the Saints head coach since the 2009 season and in five seasons had an overall record of 25-23. His teams qualified for the IHSA playoffs three times and captured one Upstate Eight Conference River Division championship.

"On behalf of the St. Charles East community, I want to thank Coach Fields for his years of service to the Saints football program," said St. Charles East Athletic Director Mike Sommerfeld. "We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors."

Fields will remain on the faculty at St. Charles East where he teaches Health and Wellness. The search for his successor will begin immediately.
