Stevenson's Green plans to don Northwestern purple

Cameron Green will trade his green for purple.

Sporting a gray Northwestern T-shirt, purple Northwestern cap and wide smile, the Stevenson incoming senior posted a picture on Twitter on Friday announcing his college choice.

“Blessed to have the opportunity to continue playing football after high school at Northwestern University #gocats,” Green tweeted.

A two-year varsity starter at wide receiver, Green put together an all-state season as a junior, catching 48 passes for 890 yards and 11 touchdowns in helping Stevenson reach the Class 8A state semifinals.

He was also effective as a kick returner and defensive back, and he also punted. His punt return for touchdown and interception helped the Patriots defeat host Glenbard North — and his future teammate at NU, all-state running back Justin Jackson — in the second round of the playoffs last year.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Green had several scholarship offers, including from Minnesota, Nebraska, Bowling Green, Iowa, Iowa State, Boston College, Illinois and Toledo.

He is the son of former Notre Dame and Bears running back Mark Green.
