Storms postpone season openers

Who says lightning doesn't strike twice?

For the second straight year, opening night of the high school football season was complicated by the arrival of stormy weather Friday night.

Most sites saw games at least delayed by rough weather, and several were postponed to Saturday.

Rolling Meadows and St. Viator got their game started in Arlington Heights, but the contest was quickly postponed with Meadows leading 7-0 in the first quarter. That game resumes at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Conant at Lake Park was also postponed, and will be played Saturday evening, while Elk Grove and host St. Charles North will give it another try starting at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Libertyville at Palatine was also postponed and will be completed starting at 11 a.m. Saturday. In that game, Libertyville led 27-17 when play was stopped in the third quarter.
