Lightning postpones several Fox Valley area games
For the second year in a row Mother Nature came out the big winner on Opening Night.
Lightning postponed several Fox Valley area football openers Friday night, meaning that Opening Night now becomes Opening Day.
Here's a rundown of rescheduled games that will be played and/or resumed on Saturday:
Burlington Central will play at Hampshire at 10:30 a.m. The game is midway through the first quarter with the Rockets leading 7-0.
South Elgin will play at St. Charles East at 1 p.m. The game had just begun Friday when it was postponed.
At Memorial Field in Elgin, the Maroons' opener against Dundee-Crown was postponed before kickoff. The game will be played at 5 p.m. Saturday, after the Larkin-McHenry game, which is scheduled for 1:15 p.m.
Cary-Grove had a 14-7 lead on Wheaton North when the game was postponed at Cary's Al Bohrer Field. It will tentatively be resumed at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Marian Central leads Crystal Lake South 13-0 in the second quarter of a game that will be resumed at 4 p.m. Saturday in Woodstock.
And at Millennium Field in Streamwood, Huntley and Bartlett were scoreless with 1:39 left to play in the first quarter. That game will be resumed at 5 p.m. Saturday.
