No slowing down Lees, Libertyville

Libertyville quarterback Riley Lees has shown that he can score with his arm and his legs, and Friday night was no different as he combined for 305 total yards.

His performance led the host Wildcats to a 37-7 victory over Lake Forest Academy in a nonconference football game.

Lees ran for 117 yards on 15 attempts and scored 3 touchdowns. He passed for 188 yards and a TD.

"He's a nice player and a good leader, Wildcats coach Mike Jones said. "He's a threat to do a lot of things."

"Our offense can do whatever we want," Lees said. "We can run the ball, we can pass the ball, and our coaches believe that we can do both whenever we want."

Midway through he first quarter, Lees threw a 48-yard pass to Henry Schmidt, and Lees put the Wildcats on the scoreboard with a 1-yard sneak. He then scored on a 6-yard sweep with 1:51 left in the first quarter.

Wildcats kicker Brett Uransel kicked a 42-yard field goal to put the Wildcats up 17-0 at halftime.

The Wildcats defense allowed only 45 yards and 5 first downs in the first half.

LFA averted the shutout as quarterback Dom Haubner passed to Daniel Joseph for 12 yards.

Despite the loss, Caxys coach Robin Bowkett was happy with the way his team played.

"I would say that we had our chances," he said. "Some timely turnovers killed us, but we were better than the week before (against Highland Park)."
