OFFENSE

Josh Walker, Jacobs: The Fox Valley area scoring leader added 5 more touchdowns in a 56-16 victory over Dundee-Crown, giving him a 5-game total of 14. The 5-foot-6, 160-pound senior running back needed only 11 carries to rush for 185 yards, including scoring runs of 4, 34, 11 and 71 yards. Walker also caught a couple of passes for 38 yards, highlighted by a 31-yard touchdown reception.

Kiwanne Durant, Vernon Hills: The stepson of former Bears tight end Desmond Clark, he has trusty hands too. The junior wide receiver's breakout season continued in a 50-0 victory over Round Lake, as he caught 13 passes for 210 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Ramon Lopez, St. Charles East: Streamwood's defensive front was stout but the 5-foot-9, 190-pound senior running back worked through and around it. In the Saints' 24-6 Upstate Eight Conference River Division victory Lopez compiled an amazing 45 carries for 320 yards. He scored on touchdown runs of 1 and 19 yards.

John Maddox, Buffalo Grove: Maddox answered his team's call, starting at quarterback due to injury and providing strong all-around play in a 21-20 victory at Elk Grove. The senior finished with a game-high 117 yards rushing with a touchdown, and completed 4 passes, including a 49-yard scoring strike to finish with 90 yards through the air - all this in addition to keeping his role as a starting defensive back.

Jordan Rowell, IC Catholic Prep: Rowell took control in a 30-23 Metro Suburban West victory over Aurora Central Catholic. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound sophomore carried the football 20 times for 255 yards and 4 touchdowns while adding 4 catches for 60 yards. Rowell also came up big on defense by snaring 2 interceptions.

DEFENSE

Brett Bowman, Batavia: The 5-foot-11, 165-pound cornerback intercepted 3 passes in Batavia's tight 21-7 Upstate Eight Conference River Division win over St. Charles North. The junior's late first-half pick turned momentum and led to the go-ahead score. He added 2 fourth-quarter interceptions, and overall made 7 solo tackles.

Pasquale Quinn Calcagno, St. Francis: The 6-foot-5, 225-pound senior defensive end's 5.5 sacks in a 29-0 win at Hales Franciscan set the Spartans' record and are tied for fourth in state history, 0.5 off the IHSA record. His sacks set Hales back 31 total yards. Calcagno made 4 other tackles for loss, 12 overall, and forced a fumble that led to a touchdown.

Nick Delporte, Rolling Meadows: Delporte was key to Rolling Meadows' 27-17 win over Wheeling. The senior safety was disruptive, coming up with a pair of sacks on blitzes, and also tracked down a pair of Wheeling runners on long gains that could have gone for touchdowns. Delporte finished with 7 solo tackles (including one for loss) and 3 assists as the Mustangs picked up a key MSL East triumph.

Matt Sutherland, Cary-Grove: A three-year starter who plays on both sides of the ball, Sutherland was a key reason why Cary-Grove's defense held a Huntley offense averaging 50 points to 14. The senior defensive back was responsible for covering the deep middle third of the field, which allowed safeties on either side to blanket the edges and contain Huntley's big-play capability. Sutherland sparked the Trojans' with a diving first-quarter interception of a tipped ball, and he finished with 8.5 tackles in a 42-14 victory. Offensively, he carried the ball 10 times for 41 yards, including a 6-yard touchdown as the Trojans improved to 5-0.

Tyler Stankiewicz, Wauconda: Promoted to varsity the last three games of his freshman season, the sophomore middle linebacker continues to display his maturity as a football player. He had 3 sacks, 2 tackles for loss and a forced fumble in the Bulldogs' 47-6 win over North Chicago.
