Elk Grove will put up fight against Fremd

Fremd (1-0) at Elk Grove (0-1)

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Last year: Fremd 16, Elk Grove 0

Outlook: After five consecutive losses to Lake Zurich to open its season, Fremd started its season with a victory.

Now the Vikings will go for two in a row, but may have to do it without defensive end Matt McCabe, who had 12 tackles last week. McCabe suffered an ankle injury and will be a game-time decision.

The Vikes still have plenty of firepower with Tommy Josten turning in a nice performance at quarterback in his debut and Charlie Kaye running for 89 yards. Elk Grove and new coach John Sigmund did not have the start of the season they wanted after a tough loss to Libertyville. But the Grens come home to their new field turf and hope to turn things around.
