Maine West out for second victory

Maine West (1-0) at Elmwood Park (1-0)

When: Friday, 7:15 p.m.

Last year: Maine West 30, Elmwood Park 13

Outlook: Maine West has not won their first two games to open a season since 2005.

But after blanking Proviso East 23-0 last week, the Warriors are in position to do just that. Maine West looks to get another strong performance from quarterback Jake Riportella, who rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown and was 8-of-11 passing for 79 yards.

The defense, led by Malik Slem, David Budzik, Mike Milewski and Kark Scott, held Proviso East to 90 yards and leading the first shutout by a Maine West team in 10 years.

Elmwood Park, which was 2-7 last year, is coming off a 40-6 win over St. Joseph.
