St. Edward-IC Catholic game moved to Elmhurst

Friday night's Metro Suburban crossover football game between St. Edward and IC Catholic Prep has been moved from Greg True Field in Elgin to Plunkett Park in Elmhurst, according to a post on St. Edward coach Mike Rolando's Facebook page.

The move was necessary due to damage done to Greg True field when the company that maintains the field mistakenly used weed killer instead of fertilizer and killed much of the grass on the field.

The Green Wave played on the field in Week 2 despite the conditions.

St. Edward athletic director P.J. White said, in an email: "After examining the field with a committee of St. Edward administration, ICCP administration, and representatives of the officiating crew, considering the best interests of both schools and players from both schools as well as for the integrity of the game, we have decided to move the football game to ICCP due to adverse field conditions. From this point on, our field of play will be determined on a week-to-week basis."

Friday's sophomore game will start at 5 p.m.; the varsity contest will be at 7 p.m.
