West Suburban Week 5: Leyden looks to stay unbeaten in conference play

Leyden (2-2, 1-0) at Addison Trail (2-2, 1-1)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The quick hit: Coming off a Gold loss to Downers South, the Blazers now need to bring Leyden back to the pack in the standings. Addison Trail's struggling for consistency, but last week quarterback Ryan Zygowicz had one of his best games passing the ball.

Downers Grove North (2-2, 0-2) at Oak Park (4-0, 1-0)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The quick hit: After facing Hinsdale Central and Glenbard West, the Trojans' brutal stretch of West suburban Silver unbeatens continues. The matchups have taken a physical toll, although running back Jared Whitacre is trying to keep the offense rolling on the ground.

Hinsdale South (2-2, 1-1) at Proviso East (0-4, 0-2)

Game time: 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The quick hit: The Hornets aim to get back on track after a surprising loss to Willowbrook. With Josh King still recovering from an ankle injury, they struggled with quarterback pressure. Receiver-defensive back Ravon Johnson's playing well on both sides.

Morton (1-3, 1-0) at Downers Grove South (1-3, 1-1)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The quick hit: Free of the toughest part of its schedule, Downers South finally got in the win column last week. Shifts in personnel paid dividends and quarterback Riley Heavey had his best game. He threw for 160 yards, kicked 3 field goals and ran for a score.

Proviso West (0-4, 0-2) at Hinsdale Central (4-0, 2-0)

Game time: Noon Saturday.

The quick hit: Hinsdale Central quarterback Michael Sessa continues to put up astounding numbers. He's completed 69 percent of his passes for 849 yards, 11 touchdowns and only 1 interception. Four different receivers already have double-digit receptions.

York (1-3) at Willowbrook (2-2)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The quick hit: Ball control with a punishing ground game is the goal for York behind offensive linemen Cal Widener and Chuck Walsh. The Warriors counter with defensive line strength from the trio of Joe Knudson, Elijah Rochel and sophomore Kevon Dobbins.
