Chicago Catholic Week 5: Aurora Christian needs win to boost playoff hopes

Aurora Christian (3-1) at Bishop McNamara (3-1)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday

The quick hit: A win in this Chicago Catholic League White battle would go a long way toward Aurora Christian's playoff hopes. “We are up against the wall in terms of playoff points,” Eagles coach David Beebe said. “We're going to need 6 wins to get in, so this is a playoff game for us.”

Montini (4-0) at Leo (1-3)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Kroc Center in Chicago.

The quick hit: Montini's first three foes were all state toughies. Its next three, not so much. A focus on fundamentals and situations — and adding to its plus-9 turnover ratio — is the task for the Broncos, who hope to return strong safety Luke Stone from injury.

Catalyst/Maria (0-2) at St. Francis (3-1)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The quick hit: Yep, that's 2 games for first-year program Catalyst/Maria, headed by 6-4 receiver-safety T.J. Hayes. Resilient St. Francis trailed Brother Rice 36-7 before rallying with Peter Fassnacht's 399 yards passing. Junior linebacker Greg Bogdanski is on fire.
