Naperville Central looks to get back on track against banged up Wheaton Warrenville South

Wheaton Warrenville South (1-3, 1-3) at Naperville Central (3-1, 3-1)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Last week: Neuqua Valley 28, WW South 14; Waubonsie Valley 15, Naperville Central 14.

Last year: Naperville Central 10, WW South 7; WW South 27, Naperville Central 20 in Class 8A playoffs.

Down two quarterbacks, running back J.J. Johnson and linebacker Will Bach to injuries, WW South dropped its third straight game.

The Tigers might get a little healthier for this one, but others need to keep stepping up - just like linebacker Eric LoBue did last week. And just like running back Owen England did while rushing for 118 yards and a touchdown.

Look for more two-way play from defensive linemen Solomon Jackson and Jack Bucholz in addition to tight end Jaylin Carter.

Disappointing as last week's loss was, Naperville Central is more than ready to leave it behind and continue a strong start to the season.

Despite only two first-half offensive possessions, the Redhawks still rushed for 250 yards for the game led by Jeremiah Wiggins.

Naperville Central surrendered a 14-0 fourth-quarter lead last week, but the defense remains a strength even though the Redhawks were without safety Jon Barker and linebacker Trent Graves last week because of injury.

Next week: WW South at Waubonsie Valley; Naperville Central at Batavia.
