St. Edward downs Chicago Christian

Dwayne Allen rushed for 207 yards on 13 carries and scored 4 touchdowns Friday night as St. Edward became playoff eligible with a 46-21 Metro Suburban East win at Chicago Christian.

Allen scored on runs of 15, 5, 85 and 33 yards as the Green Wave moved to 5-3 on the season and 3-1 in the league.

"We got a lot of kids playing time tonight," said St. Edward coach Mike Rolando. "We had three starters out and we wanted to keep everyone healthy because we have a tough game next week."

Quarterback Dylan Milnarich was 6 of 17 passing for 37 yards, including a 23-yard TD pass to Patrick Brown.

Freshman Jordan West also took snaps for the Wave, going 7-for-8 for 93 yards and a 36-yard TD pass to Jacob Frey.

Sophomore Andrew Johnson scored St. Edward's final touchdown when he recovered a fumble in the end zone an Jake French led the defense with 2 blocked punts.

St. Edward can secure a playoff berth with a win next week against Elmwood Park (3-4), which plays Walther Christian on Saturday. Next week's game is still scheduled to be played at Greg True Field in Elgin.

"We're pretty solid with (playoff) points but obviously you want to improve your seed so we want to come out next week and get that sixth win," Rolando said.
