Buffalo Grove 21, Deerfield 7:

Host Buffalo Grove got its first football victory for head coach Jeff Vlk — along with the Bison's first win this season — in a 21-7 decision over Deerfield on Friday in nonconference play.

Chase Marsh scored on touchdown runs in the first and fourth quarters for Buffalo Grove, and Bison quarterback Connor Adams hooked up with Jimmy Trieb on a TD pass in the second quarter.

The Bison allowed Deerfield a score in the second quarter as the Trojans suffered their first setback of the season.

Buffalo Grove (1-2) travels to Vernon Hills next week for its Week 4 matchup before beginning Mid-Suburban East play in Week 5. Vernon Hills fell 21-14 at Wheeling on Friday to fall to 2-1.

Glenbrook North 21, Hersey 19:

The Spartans managed to spoil Hersey's upset bid with a nonconference win in Arlington Heights. Glenbrook North improved to 3-0 while Hersey slipped to 0-3.

Highland Park 41, Elk Grove 7:

The visiting Giants remain unbeaten at 3-0 after prevailing on the Grens' home turf.

Leyden 43, Proviso East 0:

The host Eagles bounced back from a Week 2 with a convincing win over the Pirates.
