Week 9: Scouting the Upstate Eight Valley

Glenbard East (2-6, 2-2) at Bartlett (3-5, 2-2)Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday at Millennium Stadium in Streamwood.

The quick hit: Glenbard East seeks its first above-.500 UEC Valley record. Sophomore quarterback Bret Bushka comes off a great day, and the Rams offense returns running back Jack Oberli. Rams defensive tackle Brandon Raines confronts Bartlett's ground attack. Bartlett has won both meetings since the Rams joined the Upstate Eight. The Hawks prevailed last year 42-27 and won 23-20 in overtime in 2014.

Geneva (3-5) at West Aurora (8-0)

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Quick hit: A Blackhawks' win in this Upstate Eight crossover makes them 9-0 for the first time since coach Ken Zimmerman's team finished with the same record in 1948-49. Geneva has won at least 4 games every year since going 2-7 in 2003-04.

South Elgin (3-5, 3-1) at East Aurora (1-7, 0-4)

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday at Aurora Christian High School

Quick hit: A victory for the Storm would give them a 9-1 record against Upstate Eight Valley teams over the last two seasons. South Elgin's next game will take place in Florida. District U-46 recently gave approval for the Storm to play their 2017 season opener at the Disney World complex, a trip the players will pay for themselves via fundraisers, coach Pat Pistorio said.
