Palatine senior quarterback Zach Oles has secured a football future at Butler University.
The captain of the Daily Herald's Northwest all-area team the last two seasons revealed his choice Monday by tweeting, "Excited and honored to say I have committed to play football at Butler University!"
Oles wrapped up a stellar career at Palatine in the fall. He led the Pirates to an unbeaten regular season as both a passing and rushing threat as Palatine repeated as Mid-Suburban West champs.
A broken collarbone in the first round of the playoffs ended Oles' season, but Palatine still advanced to the Class 8A semifinals.
Oles finishes as Palatine's third all-time leading passer with 4,080 yards and 37 touchdowns. He also managed to climb into third place on the all-time rushing list with 1,755 yards and 34 TDs.
Butler, which typically recruits effectively in suburban Chicago, finished 4-7 this year. The Bulldogs' 2016 roster included offensive lineman Jake Plantz (Fremd) along with multiple players from Batavia, Carmel and Lake Zurich.
