New principal for Lake Zurich High School
Lake Zurich High School will have a new principal for the 2017-18 academic year.
Robert Vossel was approved for the top high school job by the Lake Zurich Unit District 95 board at a special session Thursday night. Vossel is assistant principal of curriculum and instruction at Jacobs High School in Algonquin.
District 95 Superintendent Kaine Osburn praised Vossel in a statement Friday.
"With his strong background in organizational and instructional leadership, Mr. Vossel is an excellent fit for Lake Zurich High School," Osburn said. "His passion for rigorous curriculum and quality instructional practices will build upon the high school staff's strong foundation and support its continued advancement."
Vossel will receive a $125,000 base salary for 2017-18 when he starts as Lake Zurich High's principal July 1. He'll replace Kent Nightlinger, a 31-year educator who said he plans to retire and pursue interests such as music, cooking, theater and attending more Cubs games. His resignation, effective June 30, was announced in December.
Nightlinger has said his pending departure has nothing to do with allegations of hazing by Lake Zurich High football players that surfaced in November.
Vossel has been Jacobs High's assistant principal of curriculum and instruction for the past six years. Before working at Jacobs, Vossel was math and science division head at Buffalo Grove High School and a physics and chemistry instructor at Naperville North High School.
