Week 2: Scouting the Metro Suburban

Aurora Central Catholic (0-1) at St. Francis (1-0)Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The quick hit: St. Francis didn't amass 27 points until Week 7 last year, so its 27-7 win over Argo was big. The Spartans give ACC lots to prepare for with quarterbacks Sidney Moore and Mike Baffa, tailback Sam Sidari, receivers Zak Burke and Vince D'Orazio.

Fenton (0-1) at Shepard (1-0)Game time: 7 p.m. Friday.

The quick hit: First-year Fenton coach Matthew Lynch liked the grit of the Bison. Leading the way as usual was Dylan Butts, who ran for 105 yards. Linebacker Brian Jaramillo started fast, a good thing against a fast Shepard team that hit Ellison with 56 points.

Glenbard South (0-1) at Galesburg (0-1)Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The quick hit: Glenbard South seeks better line execution after falling 28-0 to Addison Trail. Defensive linemen Jack Jochums and Anthony Kramer, linebacker Sam Makasiar bring strong debut performances into run-heavy Galesburg, a 37-7 loser to Dunlap.

St. Laurence (0-1) at IC Catholic (1-0)Game time: 7:15 p.m. Friday.

The quick hit: Benet quarterback Matt Boyle hurt St. Laurence running and passing, right up the alley of IC QB Luke Ricobene and the Knights' read-option offense. IC found its footing and, behind numerous contributors, steamrolled Bishop McNamara 43-7.

Wheaton Academy (1-0) at Raby (0-1)Game time: 7 p.m. Friday at Hanson Stadium in Chicago.

The quick hit: The Warriors seek a faster start than in the 21-0 win over West Chicago. Linebackers Jay Callentine and Dimitrie Skakavac reached double-digit tackles but will need help corralling Raby's Danquis Smith, who ran for 175 yards, 4 touchdowns.

Chicago Hope (1-0) at St. Edward (1-0)Game time: 7 p.m. Friday at Greg True Field

The quick hit: The St. Edward offense generated 553 total yards against Class 5A power Metamora last week. The Eagles defeated Tinley Park 55-39 and were 5 votes shy of being a ranked team in Class 2A.
