The quick hit: Coach Matthew Lynch earned his first Bison victory in a 43-6 dismantling of Guerin. All-Metro Blue receiver-defensive back Carlos Mercado enters Melrose Park off one of his top games - a punt return touchdown, a touchdown run, 5-for-5 on PATs.
Glenbard South (1-2) at Ridgewood (2-1)Game time: 7:15 p.m. Friday.
The quick hit: Glenbard South comes off a huge across-the-board effort, keyed by quarterback Jack Crouch and defensive linemen Anthony Kramer and Adam Haushahn, to face the 2016 MSC Red champ. Safety Gavin Fitzpatrick will spy top receiver Marco Vitale.
IC Catholic (2-1) at Chicago Christian (2-1)
Game time: 7 p.m. Friday.
The quick hit: Khalil Saunders accounted for 117 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception in his first quarterback start before C.J. West finished a 54-0 win over Elmwood Park. Chicago Christian will get a large dose of tailback Lazerick Eatman, who ran for 186 yards.
Wheaton Academy (2-1) at Elmwood Park (2-1)Game time: 7:15 p.m. Friday.
The quick hit: Both played to huge margins last week but only Wheaton Academy won, 47-7 over Chicago Christian. Christian Carstens responded to a challenge with 107 yards rushing. Pares brothers, Sebastian and Christian, played strong at defensive end.
Riverside-Brookfield (3-0) at Aurora Central Catholic (1-2) Game time: 7 p.m. Friday
The quick hit: The Chargers were beaten 47-8 by Glenbard South last week while R-B was beating Ridgewood 35-7. ACC won last year's Metro Suburban Conference crossover 21-20. The Bulldogs average 37 ppg.
St. Edward (2-1) at Guerin (0-3) Game time: 2:30 p.m. Saturday
The quick hit: It's unlikely the Crusaders can keep pace with the Green Wave offense. Guerin has been outscored 112-6. St. Edward all-state quarterback Dylan Mlinarich threw 4 touchdown passes in St. Edward's 50-0 victory a year ago.
