Riverside-Brookfield handles Fenton

Fenton had the unfortunate task of squaring off against a fired up Riverside Brookfield team that was coming off a blowout loss the week before.

The Bison fell behind early as the Bulldogs run game asserted itself in a big way in the first quarter to roll to a 52-12 victory over Fenton on homecoming in Bensenville.

With the loss the Bison fell to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the MSC Blue. R-B improved to 6-1 and 2-1.

"We finished - we are proud of that and the kids kept playing hard," said Fenton coach Matt Lynch. "R-B is a good football team. They have quality players and nice skilled kids. Their offensive line changed the game and moved the line of scrimmage. They beat us in all phases of the game."

The Bulldogs led 31-0 at the end of the first quarter and 52-0 at halftime thanks to the power running back Nick Del Nodal who ran for 158 yards on 13 carries, including 3 touchdowns. Quarterback Hunter Hughes passed for a touchdown and ran one in too on a rainy raw night where the grass playing surface was slippery.

"It's interesting to see how a team rebounds," said R-B coach Brendan Curtin, whose team lost 45-0 to IC Catholic Prep last Friday. "Sometimes it feels like the next game can't come soon enough in terms of getting back out there and putting that one behind you. We did a lot of good things upfront. We controlled the line on offense and defense. The big thing was ball security making sure we take care of the rock under these adverse conditions."

Fenton got its points on a nice 7-yard scoring run Ethan Doliente late in the third quarter and quarterback Kyle Cacioppo linked with Julius Raygoza on a 8-yard touchdown pass.
