St. Francis trails Riverside-Brookfield early in suspended game

Friday's Metro Suburban Conference Blue Division football game was suspended with 37.2 seconds left in the first quarter and Riverside-Brookfield leading host St. Francis 6-0.

The game will resume at 3 p.m. Saturday in Wheaton with Riverside-Brookfield having a first and 10 at its own 45-yard line.

Riverside-Brookfield (2-4, 0-3) scored the game's only touchdown to this point on a 17-yard run by Luke Gentile. Gentile's touchdown was set up when Riverside-Brookfield senior Connor Pitts blocked a St. Francis punt, giving the Bulldogs the ball at the St. Francis 26. A 9-yard pass to Dominick Rowe from quarterback Owen Murphy was followed by Gentile's scoring run.

The 2-point conversion run failed.

St. Francis is 5-1, 2-1.
