Elk Grove shuts out Niles West, now 3-0

Elk Grove continues to shine.

The Grenadiers powered past Niles West 43-0 Friday in Elk Grove to improve their record to 3-0.

The Grenadiers scored all their points in the first half. Mitch Janczak threw touchdown passes to Dylan Berkowitz and Garrett Ewen. Janczak and Daryl Hunt each had a touchdown run. The Grens special teams also scored as Berkowitz returned a blocked punt for a score and Lucas Rogers had a punt return for a touchdown.

St. Viator 42, DePaul 21:

With this score tied at 21 after three quarters, St. Viator (3-0) scored three touchdowns in the final quarter to pull away. Michael Nix had a pair of touchdown receptions from Charlie Dolsen, Jake VanBooven had a pair of touchdown runs and Leo Izquierdo had an interception return for a touchdown.

Antioch 49, Lakes 13:

Antioch (1-2, 1-0) bounced back in a big way for homecoming, racing past their district rival. The Sequoits built an early 21-0 lead and were able to have things in control from there. Nick Daay had 16 carries for 199 yards and four touchdowns while Martin Cohen added a pair of touchdowns. Lance Martin also threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Kellen Lennard-Brawne. Lakes (1-2, 0-1) was led by Amir Al Hindi who had 21 carries for 83 yards and a touchdown.

Grayslake Central 51, North Chicago 14:

Kaiden Miller had five touchdowns to end the Rams (3-0). Miller caught a pair of touchdown passes from Cole Gillette covering 52 and three yards. He also caught touchdown passes from Dom Pavell of eight and 51 yards, Miller had a 9-yard touchdown run and Connor Anguilla had a 21-yard touchdown run.

Mundelein 16, Zion-Benton 6:

Mundelein (2-1, 1-0) was able to pull away from a 7-6 halftime lead. The Mustangs had a safety and a touchdown in the second half to pull out the win.

Wauconda 55, Round Lake 0:

Chase Groelle had a touchdown catch and Connor Vanselow and Jacob Wurster each rushed for a pair of touchdowns in the first half as Wauconda (3-0, 1-0) built a 41-0 lead at the half. Round Lake fell to 0-3.

Buffalo Grove 45, Highland Park 14:

The Bison (1-2) picked up their first win of the season. Michael Cervantes had a touchdown run and a touchdown reception from Payton Diaz, who also returned an interception for a touchdown. Matthew Maradkel (13 carries, 117 yards) had a pair of touchdown runs while Anthony Palano scored on a touchdown run.

Glenbrook South 42, Fremd 14:

Glenbrook South (3-0) made things tough for the host Vikings. Fremd took an early 7-0 lead but Glenbrook South pulled away from a 7-7 tie to remain unbeaten. Caiden Suchy threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Yahir Martinez and 32 yards to Brennan Saxe for Fremd (0-3).

Schaumburg 17, Niles West 7:

Schaumburg (1-2) rallied from a 7-0 halftime deficit to pick up its first win of the season. Anthony DiGioia had touchdown runs of 71 and four yards while Ilia Niku added a late field goal for the Saxons.

Hoffman Estates 44, Maine West 0:

Aiden Cyr and Hoffman Estates (1-2) bounced back in a big way. Cyr, who had been injured, returned to the lineup Friday and was 11-of-18 for 191 yards and three touchdowns as the Hawks flew past Maine West (1-2).

Quincy Williams, who rushed for 103 yards on 14 carries, scored four touchdowns, two rushing and two receiving. Stephon Sellers, who had 7 receptions for 98 yards, also had a touchdown catch. Dimarte Neustader has a defensive score for Hoffman.

Wheeling 49, Maine East 12:

Wheeling (2-1) jumped all over Maine East to take a 42-12 halftime lead. Wheeling got first-half touchdown runs from Gavin Stanke, Diego Giles, AJ Marchetti, Simon Micula and Miguel Guerrero. Marchetti also tossed a 51-yard touchdown pass to Joey Baroud. Guerrero had a second half touchdown run. Maine East (1-2) scored on a Yusuf Awad to Jack Peters touchdown pass and a 71-yard run by Lucia Roa.

Hersey 42, Deerfield 0:

Hersey rolled past Deerfield with its two-headed monster quarterbacks Carter Hansen and Colton Gumino combining for 256 yards and four touchdowns. Hansen threw three touchdown passes while Gumino had another. Carson Grove had four receptions for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Logan Farrell and Brett Kersemeier also had touchdown catches. Jack Armstrong added a touchdown run.

Hinsdale South 42, Leyden 14:

Leyden (0-3, 0-1) lost its West Suburban Gold opener.
