Palatine hangs on at Glenbrook South

Palatine's football team picked up its first win of the season by topping host Glenbrook South 35-28 on Friday in nonconference play.

Palatine (1-2) held a 14-7 lead at the half, with one of the first-half scores from Jake Gronwick on a 30-yard reception and from junior QB Zac Garnmeister. The same two hooked up on a 51-yard score late in the third quarter to put the Pirates up 28-14.

Darryl Garner produced a 35-yard TD run in the fourth quarter for Palatine's final points.

The Pirates will host New Trier next week in another Mid-Suburban/Central Suburban matchup.
