Glenbard North (0-1, 0-1) at Waubonsie Valley (1-0, 1-0)

DuPage Valley Conference

Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Last week: Naperville Central 13, Glenbard North 12; Waubonsie Valley 27, Lake Park 6.

Last year: Did not play.

Outlook: Friday will be the first meeting between these two powers. Glenbard North coach Ryan Wilkens hopes it brings better execution than Week 1, when timing was off up front and in the passing game.

As usual the Panthers still outgained their opponent, led by Vittorio Tricase's 125 yards rushing. Gearing up to limit Waubonsie's triple option is the task for linebackers Jaylen Fitzpatrick and Alex Taylor; defensive backs Justin Pitts and Greg Newsome each had a Week 1 pick.

Waubonsie Valley coach Paul Murphy was pleased by the oft-elusive 48-minute effort his team gave Week 1. First-year starting quarterback Jack Connolly got on track with a 74-yard touchdown run and earlier completed a long pass to sophomore tight end Charles Robinson that set up a touchdown by Max Ihry, who ran for 131 yards.

The offense must adapt to a faster Glenbard North squad; on defense Waubonsie seeks the impact plays sophomore linebackers Josh Dominiak and Kyle Schroeder made last week.

Next week: Wheaton Warrenville South at Glenbard North; Waubonsie Valley at Neuqua Valley.
