Prairie Ridge handles Dundee-Crown

It was a good news, bad news night for the Dundee-Crown football team.

The good news was the Chargers' offense, led by a 202-yard 2-touchdown effort from Greg Williams, was able to compile 24 points.

D-C didn't score enough.

With 373 yards rushing, PR was able to tally 48 points in posting a 48-24 win over D-C in Fox Valley Conference crossover action at PR Stadium in Crystal Lake Friday night.

The game was delayed 1 hour and 20 minutes due to lightning.

After a 51-yard touchdown run by Williams, D-C (1-3) led the Wolves 12-7 with 6:51 left in the second quarter. After Williams scored the game was delayed.

After the lengthy stoppage of play, the Wolves (3-1) seized control of the game with two scores in a 3 minute, 54 second span. Cole Brown's 14-yard run gave PR the lead for good and Nathan Griffin's 23-yard scamper gave the Wolves a 21-12 advantage at halftime.

"The first three minutes after the delay really hurt us," said Dundee-Crown coach Mike Steinhaus. "There was probably three plays the whole game that really hurt us. The offense really took a tongue-lashing after last week and came out this week with a really good effort. Greg (Williams) really ran hard. Their triple option is tough to stop. But I am proud of the kids. They fought hard."

After intermission, the Chargers inched closer on the first drive of half. Led by runs of 23 and 32 by Williams, D-C sliced the deficit to 21-18 on a 1-yard quarterback sneak by Conor Ryan with 9:24 left in the third quarter.

PR sophomore quarterback Samson Evans utilized the big play to break the game wide open. Evans scored on runs of 54 and 66 yards to give PR a 35-18 lead with 5:22 left in the third quarter.

The Chargers responded on the next drive on a 23-yard TD run by Williams to make the score 35-24. The Chargers couldn't get any closer.

Evans led the PR offense with 182 yards on 12 carries with 3 TDs while Griffin toted the ball 17 times for 148 yards including TD runs of

23 and 2 yards.

"We became a more physical team after the delay," said PR coach Chris Schremp. "Samson did a great job of running the triple option and we got the running game going,"
