Shop all Libertyville, not just downtown

It is a real shame Mayor Harger and Village officials are again ignoring the many dynamic retail businesses we have on Peterson Road. The Nov. 22 "Shop Libertyville Tour" is being presented by village officials exclusively to aid distressed downtown merchants. The Nov. 14 news release from the Village of Libertyville promoting the event of "Shop Libertyville Tour" has no mention of any retail or business outside the downtown section of Libertyville. Yet it does talk that "Shop Libertyville" is the message that the mayor and village wish to promote.

The mayor and village officials are again ignoring the approximately 100 "uptown Libertyville" merchants along with the "independent merchants" on the south end of the village. Ignored is the fact that Peterson Road produces more sales tax and revenue for the village than downtown or Main Street merchants. Maybe the "Shop Libertyville" campaign should be modified to "Shop Libertyville As Long As It Is Downtown Libertyville." I believe Village of Libertyville businesses deserve better than this.
