Hoffman Estates handles Vernon Hills

Hoffman Estates' football only added to its good start on Friday.

The Hawks improved to 4-0 after handling Central Suburban North foe Vernon Hills 56-14 in a nonconference matchup.

Hoffman Estates led 42-7 at the half.

Coach Tim Heyse's team begins Mid-Suburban West play next Friday by hosting Conant. The Hawks, who earned their first appearance in the Associated Press' Top 10 last week, follow that with a Week 6 matchup at Schaumburg.

Vernon Hills (1-3), last year's state runner-up in Class 5A, begins league play by hosting Highland Park in Week 5. The Cougars have dropped three straight.

Coach Bill Bellecomo's team has allowed 158 points over its last three games.
